Best Route from NW Iowa

Howdy!

We're heading to Grand Teton and Yellowstone in July for our third trip since 2004 and unlike years past, we'll be visiting my Mom in NW Iowa on the way west. Does anyone have thoughts on whether it would be best to drive straight west on Highway 20 across western Iowa and all of Nebraska with a night spent in Casper,WY or head down toward Omaha and take I-80 with a night spent in Rawlins,WY (Ugh!) before heading toward Jackson?
